During Season 3 of Summer House, Carl opened up about his parent’s divorce and how it impacted him more than he had previously considered. In Season 4, after a date with his now-ex Lindsay, Carl realized that the commitment issues he was experiencing following his parent’s divorce were still seriously affecting him. The episode ended on a real cliffhanger, but thankfully Carl spoke about the emotional conversation in the Summer House After Show, revealing that he was "shocked" by what went down. "I thought he'd be really worried about putting that out there but he was like, 'No, I'm speaking the truth,'" Carl shared on the Summer House After Show. "And I respect him for that and I'm grateful that I have family that wants the best for and wants the best for her." And while Carl acknowledged his relationship with Lindsay could use some work, he wasn't ready to give up on their love just yet.
